Pink Floyd

Formed 1965
Formed in London in 1965, Pink Floyd was an English rock band that became one of the most commercially successful and influential acts in popular music history, pioneering psychedelic and progressive rock. Originally led by singer and guitarist Syd Barrett alongside Roger Waters (bass), Richard Wright (keyboards), and Nick Mason (drums), the group first gained prominence in the underground London music scene. Following Barrett's departure in 1968 due to deteriorating mental health, guitarist David Gilmour joined, with Waters eventually taking on the role of primary lyricist and conceptual leader. The band achieved global stardom through their acclaimed, highly thematic concept albums—including The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), and The Wall (1979)—which were recognized for their philosophical lyrics, sonic experimentation, and elaborate live stage productions. Core Classic Lineup: - David Gilmour – Lead Guitars, Vocals - Roger Waters – Bass, Vocals - Richard Wright – Keyboards, Synthesisers, Vocals - Nick Mason – Drums, Percussion - Syd Barrett – Lead Guitar, Vocals (1965–1968)
